The entire release is just amazing and I had a hard time making a choice of what to create with!
You can check out the entire release here.
Ultimately I couldn't resist the new Pears and Pomegranates set. It just won me over!
I started by doing some ink smooshing on my craft mat with distress inks to create a watercolor underlayer. I used yellows, greens, and blues to achieve a nice washy background. You can use this to create as much or as little contrast as you want. I chose to keep it pretty light. Once it was dry I stamped my images and then got to coloring.
Now you may be saying Kelly, if you were going to color over it why do it at all?
and I'm going to tell ya. lol.
Doing the underlayer allows you to create layers of colors and textures that you would achieve with watercolor without spending all the time to build them up.
Watercolors, or water reactive inks are transparent, but so are alcohol markers. You can create different looks and tones based on how much ink you use AND how much marker you use!
Endless combinations ya'll.
After my coloring was done I adhered my die cut images to white cardstock which I popped up over a white card panel I heat embossed the new Dainty Plaid on. The white on white gives great texture without competing with my colored images.
You can watch the entire process in the video below!
Your next stop on the hop is my friend the fabulous Laura Bassen!
Thank you so much for dropping by!
