I have two cards today featuring two different ways to create holiday cards with birds and wreaths. I think this is such a classic combination that it's fun to put a modern spin on it.
For this first card I did lots of ink blending using the new Coloring Layering Wreath Stencils. I created a pretty blue halo with our reactive inks too.
I couldn't resist adding a little extra dimension with my copic markers using the stencil layers as a guide for the pine.
In order to add some shine I spattered on some White Iridescent Shimmer spray. To really bolster of the shine I used our new Berry Hero wax with the stencils to create 3D berries on the wreath that have a beautiful luster.
This bird and wreath combo is already put together so I'll had to do was enjoy coloring it!
I used Licorice Reactive ink around the edges before adding a ton of glitter using the Hero Glitter paste and the new Snowflake Stencil.
This glitter paste is definitely on my "go to" list for holiday cards. It takes on the color of the ink or cardstock below it. This gives the most gorgeous glitter results without distracting from the focal point.
I think both have a different but beautiful look. What do you think?

ReplyDeleteYour cards are both stunning! LOVE them both! Cardinals and snowflakes are two of my favorite wintertime motifs, so the cardinal card is my favorite -- but they are both fantastic! And I love love LOVE the ink blending effects you created!

ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I can't seem to get enough of these cards on blue backgrounds, they're so pretty. The lighter blue is very soft, setting off the red bird, but the snowflake background on the darker blue is stunning, not to mention that cardinals (and bluebirds) are my favorite!
